WELCOME TO RED HOUSE STABLES
WEDNESDAY 24TH MAY: The first race at Lingfield's turf meeting today was won by a son of the American stallion Kitten's Joy. His progeny are beginning to make a mark over here, Godolphin's recent winner of the Group 3 Al Rayyan Stakes at Newbury, Hawkbill, is also by Kitten's Joy. Over in the States he is the top grass sire and we now have one of his sons, Bobby's Kitten, at stud here in Newmarket.
TUESDAY 23RD MAY: A summer's day and thoughts of a trip to the seaside! Seaside racetracks - Ayr, Brighton, Musselburgh, Redcar, Yarmouth - which to choose? Or perhaps you should venture further afield to races run on the beach itself at Laytown in Ireland or over to the seaside city of Del Mar in California.
FRIDAY 19TH MAY: A fair enough result for Pam Sly with Keepup Kevin in the mile handicap in the soft ground at Newmarket this afternoon; reminiscent of another win over the Rowley Mile on soft ground in May. The latter was slightly more prestigious being the 2006 1000 Guineas won by Speciosa.
THURSDAY 18TH MAY: This Saturday sees the second leg of the American Triple Crown, namely the Preakness Stakes. One of the most dramatic winners was Afleet Alex (sire of our own mare Qualification) in 2005. If you have a minute have a look on YouTube. Click here..
TUESDAY 16TH MAY: This week racing moves on from the claustraphobic, febrile environs of Chester racecourse's amphitheatre to the wide open spaces of its York counterpart. Both play host to high class competition. Both attract bountiful & sophisticated crowds, beautiful people. Chester is generous with its appearance money for all equine athletes, York maintains its reputation for providing high prize money. Which would be your festival of choice?
